‘Yahoo, in Nigeria,’ is not necessarily linked to ritualistic activities or – worse – murders. However, what ‘Yahoo’ has in common with ritualistic activities is the ‘get-rich-quick-mentality’. From the hijacking of email accounts and related ‘419 crimes’ to ‘money rituals’ is just one step. ‘Yahoo-plus’ represents this step.

‘Yahoo-plus’ includes using diabolical means to get rich or become famous, and – according to the article produced below – usually involves the use of human blood. ‘Yahoo-boys’ now kill and use human parts for rituals. They use charms to get control over their victims who fear the ‘juju’ in the hands of these ‘Yahoo Yahoo boys’ (webmaster FVDK).

Youths in Sapele and its environ have staged a peaceful rally in support of the efforts of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to rid Delta State and the entire country of cybercrimes and other forms of economic and financial crimes.

The youths under the aegis of Save Sapele Group, carried banners and placards bearing various messages such as “Sapele Say No to Crime, Yahoo Yahoo, Kidnapping and Internet Fraud”, “Say No to Corruption”, “Protect our Youths, Daughters and Sisters – Say No to Yahoo Yahoo” and ” Say No to 419″, as they marched through the streets of Sapele.

They also wore T-shirts with inscriptions condemning internet fraud popularly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’.

The youths said the rally which is coming on the heels of several arrests of cybercrime suspects in the city, was to demonstrate their disapproval of the activities of elements that engage in activities such as internet fraud, cybercrimes and kidnapping in Sapele.

“We don’t want yahoo yahoo. We don’t want internet fraud, We say no to 419 and ritual killing”, a spokesman declared.

Tuesday’s rally in support of the Commission came few days after some youths in the area staged a protest against a sister agency, claiming that officers of the agency were instigating the frequent EFCC raid of Internet fraudsters in the city.

From ‘Yahoo’ to ‘Yahoo-Plus’: Evil acts of Internet fraudsters

Internet fraudsters have intensified their means of operation by adding some diabolical features to their game. The perpetrators, who are mainly youths, now adopt all manner of conjurations to keep the cash coming their way.

The development has become disturbing to all concerned Nigerians. Many pundits believe that the trend, popularly known as ‘Yahoo,’ is creating a lazy and purposeless generation that is desperate to get rich overnight without minding the inherent long or short-term consequence.

It is indisputable that this get-rich-quick syndrome is already denting the image of not just Nigerian citizens but the country as well. Many have expressed concern over the negative impacts the illicit activities are having on Nigeria.

Gone are the days when the major means of getting funds by these yahoo boys was to hijack email accounts or email servers to intercept business transactions and redirect payments, or to spoof email addresses from external accounts pretending to be a company and authorising irregular payment transactions. Some of the fraudsters also used their victims’ credit cards to buy anything they wanted.

But it appears those tricks are no longer in vogue as their targets are in full grasp of virtually all the old gimmicks. Before their tactics were exposed, they had exploited many unsuspecting people, within and outside Nigeria. Their victims were fleeced of billions of naira and foreign currencies, as well as prized personal belongings.

An undergraduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, told the reporter that two of his schoolmates were involved in ‘Yahoo-Plus,’ meaning using diabolical means to make wealth, usually involving the use of human blood.

“People should no longer be deceived over Internet fraud. What the boys do now is killing and using human parts for rituals. Many of them also use charms to manipulate the minds and thoughts of their victims. Honestly, if you have experienced the use of juju, you will understand that it works on many people. The victims would lose control of their thoughts or actions. They would become puppets in the hands of their manipulators. It may not last for long, but for the short period it is in effect, the victims might give all they have to the fraudsters.

“Recently, a student I know very well, who was in National Diploma 2, bought a car worth over N7 million. Everybody knew him as a yahoo boy. But something mysterious happened to his mother the last time he travelled to his hometown in Delta State. The news went round the campus of how his mother bled to death as soon as the boy stepped into their family house.

“Some of his siblings quickly raised the alarm and out of the fear of being mobbed by his own people, he fled and has not returned till date. He didn’t also come back to the campus. He abandoned his studies and his property at the apartment that he rented,” he said.

The source said the news did not come to most of the students as a surprise because the student in question had always boasted that he was making his money through the Internet. He stated that the student, who is now on the run, lived a flamboyant life and spent money as if it was going out of fashion.

“There is also another student who allegedly used his younger sister for money rituals. But something seemed to have gone wrong along the line that resulted in the young man running mad. Some said that he confessed to have killed his sister to get rich. Meanwhile, everyone knew him in school as an Internet fraudster.

“There are many others who are driving exotic cars on campus but they can’t take such vehicles home so that they won’t be questioned by their parents on their source of wealth. We know these people very well and many of them don’t hide their identities. They also belong to a clique and they don’t fail to intimidate others with their ill-gotten wealth.

“Yahoo-Plus is the reigning thing now. Some would travel to as far as Ghana only to return within a few months and begin to spend millions of naira. They call it ‘Ghana connection.’ They organise parties now and then for no tangible reason. Any lady they want is at their beck and call, because money is there to throw around. They would disturb their neighbourhoods by blasting music,” he said.

Different security agencies are now waging war against these breed of criminals, but they keep devising different techniques and coming out strong. It was learnt that most youths who are into this ignoble act are ready to take their chances of being caught rather than to remain poor.

But some observers have opined that the fight against them should be intensified, urging all stakeholders, including parents and guardians, to contribute their quota to correcting societal ills.

Investigations also revealed that some of the youth who engage in these nefarious activities are as young as 15 years. Immediately they finish their secondary education, they begin to explore the world of quick wealth. At the moment, one significant thread runs through the operations of these fraudsters: almost all of them are believed to have one form of spiritual backing that enables them to entice their victims.

Some of these fraudsters have vowed that they would not mind dying for a chance to get rich quickly through any available scheme.

“If you don’t belong to the new system, you cannot make a huge amount of money. Everybody is now into the ritual aspect because the old techniques have been exposed,” a vehicle mechanic, Eric Udoh, said in Lagos.

A Benin-based trader, who is in her 60s, Mrs. Eunice Efewedo, told the correspondent that the rate at which young boys were embracing Internet fraud and other illegitimate means of making money was alarming.

She expressed worry that, with the way things were going, only a few youths would be enthusiastic to pursue a degree at higher institutions or learn a legitimate trade.

Said she: “The other day, one of them, who could not be more than 20 years old, bought a car for his mother. But his father quickly condemned the move by questioning his son’s source of money. The youngster just secured admission to the University of Benin that same year.

“The father insisted on getting to the root of the matter and threatened to summon an extended family meeting to discuss the issue. But before anyone knew what was happening, the boy bought a house in Government Reservation Area and relocated his mother there.

“Sadly, the mother died two weeks after moving into the new house. The boy refused to attend her burial but he gave the family five million naira for funeral. He lied that he had an international competition to attend. Everybody became afraid of entering the well-furnished house that he built for his mother.”

She added that some of the fraudsters who have soiled their hands in diabolical ways of making money would never give out physical cash to anyone. She said those categories of people would prefer to make an online transfer or buy whatever gift using the credit card.

“The new yahoo boys in town won’t give you money by hand but they can buy any expensive gift for you. They are doing all sorts of charms but feigning to be Internet fraudsters. Unfortunately, some parents are not rebuking their children to desist from such evil ways,” she said.

Many have argued that the expansive spread of Internet fraud could be attributed to multiple factors, such as weak moral values among youths, peer pressure and youth unemployment, among others. But some others have countered such assertions, insisting that such crimes have no justification, as there were many acceptable ways youths could make ends meet in Nigeria, irrespective of harsh economic conditions.

A pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Province 27, Lagos, Mr. Albert Wilson, told Daily Sun that the home and society have failed in raising children with high morals.

“The quest to possess material things by all means at the expense of contentment has caused us a lot of damage. Except we begin to have a reorientation and set our priorities right, there will continue to be a moral decay. What we preach on the pulpit, act as films, sing and discuss in politics go a long way to shape us.

“If you shield your child or relative, it means that you are part of the societal problem. We need useful information from the general public about people who engage in such acts and can be relayed to the law enforcement agencies for prompt action to be taken”, he said.

Nigeria: tale of Delta communities at the mercy of ritual killers, internet fraudsters

The courtroom of the Delta State High Court, Asaba was filled to its rafters as four accused persons allegedly involved in the gruesome murder of Miss Elozino Joshualia Ogege, a 300 level student of Mass Communication at the Delta State University, Abraka filed into the court.

It was the commencement of hearing in the case against Macaulay Desmond Oghenemaro, Ojokojo Robinson Obajero, Nwosisi Benedict Uche and Enaike Onoriode accused of the killing of Elozino. The suspects were slammed with an eight charge bordering on murder, conspiracy to kidnap and kidnapping.

The mood was sober and pensive. Many in court wept quietly, cursing as they sat through proceedings. Seated among Elozino’s relatives in the court with pain etched on her face and tears rolling down her cheeks was her mother, Mrs Elizabeth Ogege, who broke down in tearful ululation shortly after court proceedings ended.

As she wailed, she demanded justice for her daughter believed to have been brutally murdered in her prime for ritual purposes.

The case has been adjourned till Tuesday, June 25, 2019, for continuation of hearing.

Elozino’s case is one in the long list of ritual killings carried out by desperate youths popularly called Yahoo Boys. And while there are indications that the momentum of Yahoo menace might be waning, the fact remains that internet fraud, popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’, and its twin practice, ritual killing, have metamorphosed into a subculture in Delta State.

This heinous crime has found an easy abode in academic environments because most of the actors are young males whose raison d’etre is primarily to acquire illicit wealth. In 2017 and 2018, there were many reports from Delta communities of unidentified female corpses with missing vital organs.

Related to the foregoing is the pilfering of female panties by persons believed to be using or selling same for ritual purposes. In the case of female panties robberies, it was reliably learnt that each pant stolen or collected at gun-point sells for about N250,000.

Triple threat

There appears to be an undeniable nexus between pant robberies, internet fraud a.k.a. Yahoo-Yahoo and ritual killings in the oil rich state; a link captured in a trending song, which insinuates that pant robbers engage in the crime for money to buy automobiles and other vain frivolities. “One pata-meter makes one benzi-meter,” goes the refrain.

From Jesse and Oghara to Sapele, Abraka, Warri and Ughelli, incidents of ritual killings and internet fraud are prevalent. There are unconfirmed reports that Jesse community is the unofficial headquarters of Yahoo-Yahoo in the state. But the notoriety of Yahoo boys transcends Delta State, with reports that a street in Ghana, where many Yahoo boys go to learn the ropes and also acquire dark powers for the purpose of their illicit trade, has been named Jesse Street, no thanks to the fact that it provides residence and cover for internet fraudsters from Nigeria, especially the ones from Jesse community.

At some point, a particular area of Oghara town known as Scot had a new case of ritual murder every two weeks; a situation that sparked fears within the academic communities of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, Oghara and Western Delta University.

“There was a time in Oghara when moving around at night became a problem,” a student in the Mass Communications Department of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe, who preferred anonymity, lamented as he narrated the ordeal that came with living in the town at the height of the reign of notorious Yahoo boys.

“Besides the fear they stir in people, they are a major distraction because many girls sell themselves cheap for money and so-called flexing to these boys. So instead of reading and living the life they were sent to Otefe to live, many girls spend most of their time in hotels with ‘G boys’, drinking and partying.”

“Then there is the issue of pant thieves. Although it never happened to me or any of my friends, we hear stories of how some girls have been harassed because some boys wanted to take their pants by force. I won’t dare go to class at night to read.

“For now, however, those stories are not common again. But for me, being careful is important.”

A final year student of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, who identified himself simply as Elohor, noted that calm had returned to the university town since security agents focused attention on the town and DELSU in particular in the aftermath of the murder of Elozino.

Relative peace after crackdown

The crackdown on Yahoo boys in the university was said to have yielded the arrest of the masterminds of the murder as well as their native doctor who demanded female genitals and other vital human organs from them.

The crackdown has since been expanded to other notorious enclaves of Yahoo boys in the state, and this has been adduced as the main reason for the prevailing relative peace in the state.

Describing the mood in Abraka and the university environment, Elohor said: “It has been long since I heard stories like that in Abraka. I think most of the guys involved in it have relocated away from the school and the town.

“I believe the relative peace we now enjoy is a result of the activities of the police and officials of the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission). They have arrested many of them and that has really scared them.

“The feeling in Abraka now is that of relief. I have not also heard of pant robbery in a long while. The last I heard of that was some time in January when a girl wrote on the WhatsApp platform about one of her neighbours who was robbed of her pant at gunpoint.

“There’s real calm and security now. If anything like that is still happening, they must have really coded it. But I also know that victims of such experiences would not hide it from the public. So, I think that era is gone for good.”

However, there is still a section of the society which believes that everybody, including the government, has handled the situation wrongly.

An evil that won’t abate

A Warri-based public affairs analyst, Mr. Felix Ogbomah, said the criminal trend may never stop as it has found a lifeline in society’s connivance. Ogbomah, who lamented the failure of parents to step in and rebuke the vice when it first surfaced, said just like all other illicit means of making money, those involved should be expected to embrace whatever form of hurdle of resistance that organised institutions would place before them.

According to him, “kidnapping, oil theft, armed robbery and all other forms of criminal means of making money came at one point or the other. And despite all efforts to stop them, either through psychological or physical means, criminals have continued to persist because these unspeakable activities bring them returns. “Likewise this one, we will be deceiving ourselves if we think we have seen the last of it. We started wrong with it.

“This criminal way of life may never go away. I said so because I see too much of acceptance and justification for it by the society. I don’t know if you have spoken to any of these young people about this Yahoo-Yahoo thing to sound them out. You will be shocked when you hear their general view.

“This is especially so with girls who you will find out are girlfriends of those of them who are Yahoo boys. You will hear things like ‘there’s nothing criminal about it, they are just collecting back what the white people took from our forefathers.’

“It becomes most sickening when you realise that Yahoo-Yahoo is not just about campus boys and girls but even vulcanizers, carpenters and people without any form of formal or informal training. Everybody just wants to get rich.

“The parents of some of those I have seen are also a big part of this social breakdown. Can you imagine parents of a boy without any visible income source saying with so much pride that their son has bought an expensive car? No reprimand, no questions. As a matter of fact, they will gladly ask such son to buy them their own as fast as possible.

“I know of a family, I won’t mention the name because I am very close to the father, though I have since reviewed my relationship with them because I consider their treatment of indecency in their family too irresponsible to condone.

“One of their sons, the stubborn one who has been known for always tracking the wrong trail, left home all of a sudden and started bringing things home without any visible means of income. He bought a car for their mother and set up a business for her.

“It is not like it is a bad thing for a son to do things for his parents; that is what we all pray for. But knowing that what your son does is illegal and you still partake of the proceeds of the illegality is what is unconscionable to me.

“This is just an example of how failed parentage has encouraged this evil to fester, and the more dangerous reason why I think this Yahoo-Yahoo thing has come to stay.

“The society is in connivance, and that is the only tonic any crime needs to survive.”

Ritual killing: Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State (Nigeria) presents N6m to victim’s family

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State yesterday in Asaba, the capital of the state, restated the commitment of his administration to tackle security challenges in the state.

The governor restated the commitment when he presented a cheque of N6million to the family of late Miss Elozino Ogege, a 300-level first class student of Mass Communication of the state university in Abraka.

The 22-year-girl was gruesomely murdered last November by suspected ritualists, otherwise known as Yahoo Plus Boys, who removed her vital organs.

Four of the suspects arrested in connection with the alleged murder are now facing trial at the state High Court.

Speaking while presenting the cheque, Okowa, who was represented by his Chief of Staff, David Edevwie, vowed that the perpetrators of the heinous crime would not go unpunished.

He decried the incidents that led to her murder, and assured that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetuators were brought to justice.

“What happened to late Miss Elozino Ogege last year is so unfortunate and heartbreaking, which tells us that all is not well in our society. This is why we are doing everything possible, as a government, to improve security in the state and ensure that security challenges are effectively tackled,” he stressed.

The governor commiserated with the family of the deceased, and assured them of government’s support.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Mrs. Elizabeth Ogege and Rt. Rev. John Aruakpor, Bishop, Diocese of Oleh, Anglican Communion, thanked Okowa for the compassion showed to the family, and called on government to put more initiatives in place to tackle insecurity in the state.

For the moment, this will be the last reporting on the Elozino Ogege case but numerous other reports come in, as you can read in the first paragraph of the first article below. THE mastermind of the Yahoo Plus gang that abducted and murdered a 300-level student of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Elozino Ogege, has slumped and died.

However, there is an unconfirmed report that gangsters beheaded a 12-year-old girl, Eguono, at Oghara, the country home of former governor of Delta State, Chief James Ibori, Thursday, less than two weeks after suspected Yahoo Plus boys decapitated a woman.

The gang leader of Elozino’s murder allegedly slumped and died when police detectives trapped him at his hideout in Abraka, but four other suspects, including an herbalist, two private security guards are in police custody at the Police Headquarters, Asaba, Delta State.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Delta Command, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed the death of the mastermind to Vanguard.

While two of the suspects, a private security guard and internet fraudster, who spoke to our reporter, admitted they participated in the crime, the herbalist and private security supervisor spoke tongue in cheek.

DSP Aniamaka disclosed that police arrested a sixth suspect, a little girl used by the mastermind as red herring to make phone, but the police believe she is a victim.

“The mastermind known to be a fraudster just returned from Ghana, we made efforts to pick him, but it was not easy, but what was in our favour was our promptness, the speed with which we worked. Between the Thursday that incident happened and Saturday, we have got most of the suspects.

“Yes, one of them slumped; in fact, the master mind knowing that we have got him slumped and gave up the ghost.

“Quickly, the second fraudster, Desmond, was caught and he told us he had been engaged in four previous cases. He identified the herbalist that they take the body parts of female folk to for ritual,” he said.

Desmond admitted to Vanguard that he is an internet fraudster and it was the herbalist that asked them to get the eyes, breasts and hearts of their victims for charms that will make any white man accept whatever they tell them in their line of business.

The herbalist denied the allegation, but Desmond insisted they bring body parts to him after killing their victims.

The security guard, Onos who was in possession of Elozino’s phone that enabled the police to track him, confessed that his supervisor engaged him to work for the gang, but the supervisor, Nwaosisi, denied the charge.

However, Onos said his boss tactically deployed him to work with the gang and was sorry for participating in the crime.

Confession

Remorseful Desmond affirmed that Elozino’s murder made it the fifth life he had taken for ritual purposes.

According to him, “each time we killed, we removed the vital organs like the eyes, the heart and the breasts of the victims, normally females, and take to the herbalist, who usually would ask us to come back.”

He added that the herbalist used to burn the hearts and pound them to make powdery substance out of them. It is the powder that he gives to them, which they apply before speaking to their victims to make money from them. “Any big woman we approach obliges us and provides money for us”

However, the herbalist denied the allegation as he continued to call on God as witness that he was speaking the truth. He said Elozino’s organs were the first he received from the Yahoo Plus customers, but Desmond insisted they took the body parts to him after killing their victims.

The security guard, Onos, who had offered to assist the victim to get accommodation and was in possession of Elozino’s phone with which the police tracked him, confessed he was posted into the school by his supervisor for the purpose of carrying out such missions when contacted, but the supervisor, Nwaosisi, denied the allegation.

Nwaosisi said he was among those that chased Onos when the police came after him in the school.

“When all these were happening, Onos threatened to implicate me for assisting the police to arrest him. When the police caught him, they discovered two phones which he claimed I sold to him. That was my involvement. “

Protest

Meanwhile, Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, yesterday thronged the streets of Asaba, the Delta State capital to protest the gruesome murder of Elozino Ogege by suspected yahoo boys.

The CSOs stormed the State Police Command, Ministry of Women Affairs and the office of the Secretary to the State Government, after matching through the streets of Asaba metropolis chanting songs of disenchantment.

Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mrs Caroline Usikpedo condemned the murder of 22-year-old Elozino, lamenting that “the society we live in today, especially some of our institutions of higher learning and local communities, are harbouring criminals and ritualists in the guise of Yahoo business.

Crime the police cracked in a jiffy

IF there is one matter the police in Delta State handled with creditable nimbleness in the last few weeks, it was the fishing out of the Yahoo boys (internet fraudsters/ritualists) who allegedly decapitated a 300-level mass communication student of Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), Elozino Joshualia Ogege.

However, notwithstanding the taking in, for questioning, of four alleged gangsters, suspected ritualists are still on the loose in the state, striking, last Wednesday, in Asaba, the state capital, and one more time, last Thursday, in Oghara, the country home of former Governor James Ibori, which seems to be the major operational target of the prowling executors.

Some Yahoo boys had abducted Elozino, whose death has brought their subversive activities into razor-sharp focus, November 15, and killed her three days after. While the police had three suspects in custody about 72 hours after, the alleged mastermind, a Ghanaian-based internet fraudster, slumped and died.

The suspects were said to have collaborated with some private security guards engaged by DELSU and kidnapped Elozino right inside the campus. This is what makes her case sad as friends said she was not the wayward type.

One of the security guards, a suspected Yahoo boy and ritualist, arrested by the police, told Sunday Vanguard, “I was posted by my security supervisor (also in police custody) deliberately to arrange the abduction of female students for Yahoo boys.”

A source said Elozino, 22, looking for accommodation in the school’s lodging facility, was contacted on phone by the security guard and that was the last time those who knew her on campus saw her last.

Concerned about the rising cases of Yahoo boys and ritualists in the state, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, on November 26, gave the police marching orders to crackdown on gangsters.

How police tracked suspects – PPRO

Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Delta State Command, DSP Andrew Animamaka, told Sunday Vanguard, last Thursday, “Before the governor came up with the order, the Command had already mounted a search for the masterminds and any person who, in any way, may have had a hand in the gruesome murder of the young Elozino Ogege.”

Disclosing that the arrest of the suspects was a combination of efforts of different units of the command, he said, “The initial credit goes to the Abraka Division, which even, prior to the information getting to the Command Headquarters, Asaba, had been on the matter and the Anti-Kidnapping Task Squad then intervened and did the rest of the job. “The Elozino matter did not come to the police as death of somebody, it came as a case of missing person. The mother of the deceased reported she was missing and, quite unlike her, had not made contact; so she smelt foul play.

“That is what set the Abraka Division in search of her. The police got their breakthrough in the case with the tracking of her phone to a security guard through our tracking device. As you would expect, he (security guard) was in denial of how the phone got to him and we sought to see the person he said sold the phone to him.

“We got the second suspect through a search and it was denial all through, but we knew that hardened criminals do not easily own up. They will never own up until you get incontrovertible facts and do proper interrogation.

“Immediately information got to the Commissioner, Muhammad Mustafa, he ordered the transfer of the case to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and it was when the two suspects got to Asaba that they started confessing”.

Aniamaka went on, “First, we found that it was not just about them. There was a mastermind, somebody known to be a fraudster, and he had just come back from Ghana where he was said to have been engaged in internet fraud. We made efforts to pick him, it was not easy, but the good thing in our favour was the promptness, speed with which we worked.

“Between that Thursday and Saturday, we had most of the (alleged) perpetrators of the crime. Yes, one of them slumped, in fact, the mastermind, knowing that we had him slumped and gave up the ghost.

“The second (suspected) fraudster confessed that this was not his first time as he had been involved in four previous cases. He identified a 62-year-old herbalist as the person they took the body parts to, and, when we got to him through our undercover network, he was in denial. Immediately we got information on where his home is located, we laid ambush, watched the stream of people coming in and out of his home in Warri.

“Detectives bid their time, acted as if they were potential customers in targeting him until they were certain they were not going to lose him. Ab initio, he said he did not know them, but later he owned up that they had once brought human parts to him, which he destroyed.

“By the time we got to Asaba, he admitted that it was only once he got human parts from them, which he threw away. Even the alleged mastermind, who slumped and died, confirmed in the presence of the herbalist that they took body parts to him to do ritual for them.

She approached them that she was looking for a house and they exploited her.

A few weeks ago, Pulse reported the death of Elozino Joshualia Ogege, a 300 Level First Class student of Mass Communication at Delta State University, after she was missing for two days. It was one of the many bad news emanating from DELSU over the past few weeks.

When her body was found, her tongue and breasts were missing. Upon a search, it was revealed that two yahoo boys and a security guard had been arrested as suspects to her death. Today, the suspects, chief of whom is Onos, a security guard have confessed to killing Ogege in graphic details.

According to Punch Metro , Onos narrated, “I was contacted by Desmond (one of the Yahoo boys) and another to provide a female student for Yahoo ritual.

“So when Elozino approached me that she was looking for accommodation, I saw it as a good opportunity. I contacted Desmond who told me to tell her to come back the next day. So the next day, they brought a Toyota Corolla car; and when Elozino came, they used something on her face which made her unconscious.

“We took her to a bush where we first plucked out one of her eyes while she was still alive. She was even crying and begging us to forgive her and let her go, but we plucked the other eye, removed her breast and heart before she died.”

Onos also implicated one Uche Nwaosisi, his supervisor whom he revealed posted him to DELSU to carry out ritual killings like this. While Onos claims this is the fifth killing they have jointly perpetrated, he insisted that Ogege was the first killing around DELSU and Abraka. The first four victims were abducted at Oghara, Delta State, according to Onos.

Nwaosisi, employed by a security company attached to the DELSU, denied all the allegations.

Onos adds, “Each time we kill, we remove the vital organs and take to the herbalist Robinson, who usually would ask us to come back. Robinson used to burn the heart and pound it to make powder substance out of it. It is the powder that he gives us, which we apply before speaking to our victims to make money from them. Any big woman we approach obliges us and provides money for us.”

Reports claim that the second Yahoo boy slumped and died as the Police . Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, revealed the suspects will soon be arraigned in court.

A few weeks ago, Pulse reported the death of a beautiful woman with vital organs missing, while a wailing child was beside her. Three days ago, “missing” posts and news surfaced across Twitter and Facebook that Delta State University student Elozino Ogege could not be found.

Over the past 24 hours, news made the rounds that Elozino Ogege had been found by residents along Ekrejeta road in Abraka Community, Ethiope-East Local Government Area of Delta State with her tongue and breasts missing.

According to Wuzup Naija, Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka said, “The family of the girl is going through excruciating pain. They have not been informed.”

With the complaints of ritual killings, murder, kidnappings, armed robbery, rape, and other issues on the rise in that vicinity, students suspect Ogege might have been killed for ritual purposes.

Chairman of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) Comrade Prince Kehinde-Taiga used the Daily Post to call for the redeployment of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Mustafa whom he says has been sleeping on duty while atrocities have continued raging.

Taiga says, “The perpetrators must be brought to book without any form of compromise. The CP must wake up from his slumber because justice must be served.”

SABA—RESIDENTS of Delta State are enraged at the activities of suspected ritualists and internet fraudsters (Yahoo Yahoo plus boys) who abduct and kill citizens, especially women, make away with their vital organs and panties reportedly for money-making rituals.

There have been alarming cases of attacks and disappearances of persons at Jesse, Sapele, Abraka, Oghara, Ughelli and Warri in recent weeks.

Besides the latest kidnap, killing and harvesting of breasts and tongue of a First Class undergraduate of Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, Elozino Ogege, which sparked the latest anger, suspected ritualists beheaded a widow at Oghara, the country home of former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, in a similar manner, recently.

Commissioner of Police, Mr. Muhammad Mustafa, followed up on his promise, last Monday, to track down Elozino’s killers, with reports that at least four suspects, including two Yahoo Yahoo boys, a native doctor and security guard, have been arrested.

Operatives of the Special Armed Robbery Squad, SARS, stormed Effurun, last Monday, and apprehended a native doctor allegedly working with the criminals, while detectives were searching for the fleeing suspects.

PDP, Uduaghan react

Former governor of the state and All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial candidate in Delta South senatorial district, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, took to his Facebook page, weekend, to bemoan Elozino’s killing, calling on the security agencies to be more alive to enforce the law to stop the menace of Yahoo Yahoo boys, ritualists and cultists.

He said in all the commentaries on the incidents, “there seems to be a consensus that what happened to Elozino is the collective failure of government, parents, uncles, aunties, the church and schools.”

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, on Sunday, also called on the Police and other relevant security agencies to unravel the perpetrators.

The party’s Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, in a statement, urged the Police to “ensure that adequate security measures are put in place to rid Delta State of the evil menace of ritual killing and other disciples of the dark arts operating anywhere in the state.”

A lawyer and activist, Frank Oseya, said: “Majority is of the view that it was the handiwork of ritualists masquerading as Yahoo boys.

“A minority is of the view it could be politicians, since we are in election season and the fetish ones are on the prowl to renew their ‘black power’.

“Ritual killings have become very rampant in recent times, coinciding with a worrisome upsurge in the number of very young boys riding in very expensive cars, building mansions and flaunting unexplainable wealth.”

The suspects almost deceived me—Lawyer

Human rights activist and lawyer, Maxwell Ogedegbe, who rejected a brief from some accomplices in the Elozino murder after he found out that they were Yahoo boys, said they almost misled him by accusing SARS of unprofessional conduct.

Ogedegbe said when he called Commissioner Mustafa, who requested him to get in touch with the officer in charge, SARS, he got a true picture of things.

“I am glad that the security agencies have made serious progress in the investigation into the murder and i can assure Deltans and Nigerians that justice will be served on the perpetrators of this dastard act.

The Governor appreciates the solidarity exhibited by Deltans and Nigerians in condemning the bizarre act and urged security agencies in the state and country to commence a massive crackdown on these criminal elements veneering as “Yahoo Boys”.

“As a government whose primary responsibility is the protection of lives and property as well as the welfare of her citizens, i urge Deltans and Nigerians to partner with the government and report to security agencies the activities of these gangs with a view to asistting the society get rid of such dangerous groups. Never again as a people shall we condone the activities of these known criminals as we all seem to agree that “enough is enough”.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Delta State University, Abraka Branch (ASUU-DELSU) has raised alarm over the activities of ritual killers in the University town, and especially condemned the recent killing of Elozino Joshuala Ogege, a 300 level student of Mass Communication.

In a statement jointly signed by the Branch Chairman, Professor Abel Diakparomre and Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, the Union condemned the abduction and subsequent murder of Miss Ogege.

While the Union commends the speedy response of the University, the Police and other security agencies to the report of Miss Ogege’s disappearance and their final unraveling of the young lady’s fate and apprehension of dastardly act, the Union, in its statement called on the State Government, Security Agencies and the Abraka Community to synergize efforts to keep Abraka free of criminality.

The Union noted that the Delta State University, over her short period of existence has become a reputable institution and one of the most sought after universities in Nigeria. The Union thus called on all relevant agencies not to allow the University’s name to be tarnished by criminal elements who now brazenly identify themselves as “yahoo boys”.

The Union leaders added that the surging criminality in the town does not only pose danger to the students and staff of the University and other residents of the town but is also a slur to the entire image of the State and the Nation. ASUU-DELSU while sympathizing with the parents of Elozino and the Mass Communication Department, described the death of the First Class student as an irreparable loss.

It would be recalled that Miss Ogege was declared missing last Thursday but concerted effort by the Police and the Delta State University authority led to the arrest of a key suspect at Abraka. The suspect later made confessional statements at the Police headquarters that led to the arrest of two other suspected “yahoo boys” with whom the first arrested suspect allegedly murdered Miss Ogege.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr Muhammad Mustafa, said the command has arrested two Yahoo boys and a security guard over the murder of a female Delta State University student, Elozino Joshualia Ogege.

Elozino, 22, and 300 level student of Mass Communication was found dead in a bush at the outskirts of Abraka, Delta State, on November 18, 2018, after she was declared missing on the November 15.

The police boss told journalists on Friday in Asaba that the DELSU student was murdered by persons suspected to be ritual killers.

He reiterated that his command would not leave any stone unturned in ensuring that all the persons connected to the crime were arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

Mustafa said, “Some of the major suspects connected to the crime had been arrested and currently assisting the police with their investigation.”

He also asked the public to avail the command with credible information that would lead to the arrest of other actors in the crime.

This is the moment the suspected Yahoo boy, Adeyemi Alao, who allegedly killed his girlfriend for money ritual – broke down in court before he was remanded in prison. The suspect was arraigned before Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo, state capital on Monday.

Adeyemi was accused of killing Khadijat, the daughter a former deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo.

Khadijat, a 400-level student of the Department of Educational Management, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, was said to be Adeyemi’s girlfriend.

Adeyemi and two other accomplices, who were said to be at large, allegedly killed Khadijat in Adeyemi’s room.

After killing the ex-deputy governor’s daughter, Adeyemi allegedly buried the corpse in a shallow grave inside his room in the Aratusin area of Akure before he was arrested seven days later.

The accused was arraigned on Monday on two counts of conspiracy and murder.

During the court proceedings, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Mary Adebayo, made an application for the remand of the accused in custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions.

The defence counsel, Taiwo Gbadebo, did not object to the application of the prosecutor.

The magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered that Adeyemi be remanded in custody pending when the legal advice would come from the DPP.

She adjourned the case till August 23, 2018.

Alao Adeyemi is accused of killing Khadijat, the daughter a former deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo.

The suspect was arraigned before Akure Magistrates’ Court in Ondo, state capital on Monday.

The late Khadijat Oluboyo (25) and her murderer, her fiancee, Seidu Sakiru Adeyemi (27) who confessed he killed her for ritual purposes.

A Magistrate Court, sitting in Oke Eda, Akure, Ondo State capital, on Monday ordered the remand of Seidu Sakiru Adeyemi, the suspected killer of the daughter of the former deputy governor, Khadijat Oluboyo, in prison.

The 27-year-old suspect was dragged and arraigned before the Magistrate Court, was charged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder, an offence contrary to Section 316 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State of 2006.

In the charge sheet, Adeyemi was alleged to have killed 25-year-old Khadijat, who was his girlfriend and buried her in his room.

The charge read “That you, Seidu Sakiru Adeyemi and others at large on the 27th day of July 2018, at about 7:30 pm at Aratusi street, Oke Aro, Akure, did conspire with others to a felony to wit murder contrary to section 324, Ondo State law of 2006.

“That you did kill one Khadijat Oluboyo, 25, by strangulating her to death and bury her inside your room contrary to Section 316, Ondo State law of 2006”.

The Police Prosecutor, Mary Adebayo, who briefed the court, said the accused killed Khadijat and tried to conceal the killing by burying the body of the victim inside his room.

The police prosecutor told the court that since it was a murder case the court had no jurisdiction and pleaded for his remand in prison

Adebayo prayed the court for an application to remand the accused pending the advice from the Department of Public Prosecution.

Counsel to the suspect, Taiwo Gbadebo, however, did not oppose the application.

In her ruling, Magistrate Victoria Bob Manuel ordered the remand of the suspect in Olokuta till the 23rd August 2018, pending the advice from the Director of Public Prosecution.

She also directed the police to hand over the original copies of his case file to the Ministry of Justice.

Adeyemi was arrested by police in Ondo State over the killing of her girlfriend, Khadijat for ritual purpose.

He was said to have dug a grave in his room where he buried her and covered it with her mattress for six days before he was arrested.

Khadijat, a final year Student of the State-owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, (AAUA)’s decomposing body was found in Adeyemi’s room.

The late Khadijat Oluboyo, a final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Nigeria.

THERE is a sense in which the recent murder of Miss Khadijat Adenike Oluboyo, the daughter of the immediate past deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, allegedly at the hands of her lover of eight years, represents a sad commentary on the abyss into which national values have sunk in Nigeria. Not only does the narrative of Khadijat’s killing drip with the increasingly loose, lewd and base direction of youth life, it also poignantly shows how futile the attempt to affect their cognition and thought processes through education has been. A university graduate, Khadihat’s lover had, without qualms, told the police how he was recruited into the gang of dupes called yahoo boys, thus confirming the claim of the bereaved father that his daughter was murdered for purposes of money-making rituals.

Khadijat was killed in the bid for voodoo money which social commentators affirm is the latest fad in town among “the big boys.” The big boys are the noveaux riches who have little or no means of livelihood but cultivate extravagant lifestyles through fraud and various wild schemes and scams. Max Weber, the famous 19th century social scientist, once posited that one of the “functions of science was to disenchant the universe,” by which he meant the suspension of myths and superstitions. But in Nigeria, young people are returning to the medieval age and resurrecting myths and superstitions in their quest for the means with which to cope with modern-day challenges.

Their peers in the West, people like Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, have created immense wealth for themselves using their ingenuity and intellect. They created universal platforms for social communication through digital technology. Sadly, however, Nigerian youths would prefer the bizarre method of gory and gruesome murder to, in their wild imagination, attract wealth through voodoo. Often, people are propelled into action by their knowledge and persuasions and it is tragic that the country’s youths seem to have been persuaded, ensnared and obviously propelled into these bizarre actions by atavism. They must have watched their fathers in politics and the bureaucracy visiting shrines and thought it fit and proper to replicate such means for immediate social prominence. This is certainly a development for which a disoriented society like Nigeria must take the rap.

The youths pick their models from their immediate environment in politics and business and, to be frank, there aren’t many in these sectors to provide any positive inspiration. Many of these youths are more disoriented than the society that has produced them. They want immediate gratification in their quest for sudden wealth. The gap of inequality between the rich and the poor has also increased the desperation among the people. They seek immediate wealth with scant regard for the legitimacy or otherwise of the means for doing so. There is also the influence of peer groups on these youths. Truth be told, the older generation is not quite exemplary in form and content, and is offering no help to the incoming generations.

It is unfortunate and regrettable that these youths are already too immersed in living on the fast lane to have any sense of moral rectitude and retrace their steps. To a great extent, parents and guardians have been negligent in giving them a positive direction during their socialisation processes. For the youths, for whom experts insist that examples are better than precepts, it is little wonder that they have eventually turned up the way they have. The Nigerian society, in particular government at all levels, must urgently contemplate redeeming these disoriented youths for the sake of the country’s future.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) and other information agencies have a great responsibility to offer a moral compass through the available platforms to influence the thinking of the youths and hopefully their eventual actions. It is dangerous to have the young generation hooked to an obviously redundant belief system in a world gravitating towards science, technology and artificial intelligence. In that world, they will be savages long overdue for extinction. We commiserate with the Oluboyos and wish them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Needless to say, the killer must get his just deserts.

The Saga surrounding the murder of Khadijat the daughter of the immediate past deputy governor of Ondo State as the main suspect who also happens to be her boyfriend confessed to killing the young woman for Money ritual purposes.

After having denied direct involvement in the death of the Adekunle Ajasin University undergraduate initially, Alao Adeyemi, the suspect in the killing of the daughter of the deputy governor of Ondo state has confessed to the crime, revealing that he killed Khadijat for ritual purposes.

He had initially said that he only provided a digger for two accomplices which was used to dig the grave where Khadijat was buried in his room.

He said he was supposed to become stinking rich after sleeping with the corpse of the deputy governor’s daughter for 7 days; He was caught on the 6^th day by his brother who promptly reported him to the police.

Adeyemi also known as ‘QS’ confessed to dismembering Khadijat’s body in order to bury her in a corner of his room which he succeeded in doing, burying the deceased in a grave dug in his bedroom and sleeping on it for six days before he was caught; the seventh day was supposed to be the final day.

A source said Adeyemi disclosed during interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) that he scrapped the hair of the deceased and also removed her private part which he had taken to his native doctor in Ondo town for money ritual before burying her in the grave.

The suspect had taken the deceased for dinner at a restaurant and a bar afterwards before taking her home and killing her in connivance with two others who are still at large. After the deed had been done, the suspect used perfumes and insecticides in the room to subdue the odour from the decomposing corpse before he was arrested on the sixth day.

A police source said the suspect’s quest to get rich quickly made him kill Khadijat on the advise of a native doctor in Ondo town who reportedly informed him that the money ritual he was requesting for will require some human parts of a very close acquaintance.

Adeyemi an internet fraudster in turn acted on the advice of said native doctor and decided to settle for his girlfriend as a victim for his ritual activities.

When Khadijat Adenike Oluboyo joined the family of the immediate past deputy governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo and his wife Fatimat some 25 years ago, the joy of the family knew no bounds. Well-wishers came from far and near to rejoice with the Muslim family in Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko Northeast Local Government, over the arrival of the new baby.

Without a doubt, the excited parents must have vowed to live up to their responsibilities to ensure that the beautiful girl ranked among the best in her generation. She began her elementary school early, graduating into secondary school and lately to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, where she was in the final year, preparing her project in preparation for her first degree.

Unfortunately, Khadijat was cut down in her prime in a mysterious manner.

While it is generally believed that death can come at any time, the one that visited Oluboyo’s family while they anxiously awaited the day their affectionate daughter will join others for her graduation after spending a fortune to raise her to this level, was most shocking, given the circumstances that surrounded it.

The former deputy governor, his wife and other relations have been traumatised by the avoidable tragedy. His Alagbaka Extension residence in Akure, the state capital, has witnessed an influx of symphatisers since the sad incident. Political associates, religious groups and friends have all expressed shock over the death of the late Khadijat, the second child in the family. The bereaved father has alleged that Khadijat was killed for ritual purposes by her boyfriend, Adeyemi Alao, who was said to have completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2017, although the accused boyfriend has since denied the allegation, saying some strangers Khadijat invited to his house were responsible for her death. Grieving Oluboyo said the suspected killer wanted to give an impression that Khadijat was kidnapped after sniffing life out of her. He also believes that his daughter was hypnotised, considering the situation surrounding her leaving the campus on June 28.

The former Deputy Governor said: “We got to know that Khadijat was missing on Monday, July 2. Somebody called us that she was not available on the campus and we started looking for her. “We got in touch with her friends in the university. Her closest friend told us that they finished lecture on a Thursday and took the same vehicle to their houses. “The Friday was lecture-free. When the friend got to the room on Monday morning and could not see her, she started calling her phone numbers ceaselessly.” The bereaved father said he sent some pocket money for Khadijat’s feeding that Friday, stressing that the usual thing was that immediately she got the bank alert, she would call him back to appreciate it. But on that particular day, there was no response, a situation that prompted her mother to start calling her.

Oluboyo said Alao gave the impression that Khadijat was kidnapped on her way from his house. He noted that the way her daughter was discovered in the suspect’s room showed that the killing was for ritual purposes, adding that prayers had to be organised before the victim’s decomposed body could be found. However, Oluboyo, a devout Muslim, took his pains in good faith, saying: “I have left everything to God to judge, His judgment is more than the verdict of any human being.” Symphatisers have been trooping in from across the state and beyond to commiserate with the distressed family. Among them were the lawmaker representing Akoko Northwest/Northeast Federal Constituency, Hon. Friday Olemija, who expressed shock over Khadijat’s death.

He condemned the manner the deceased was killed by his so-called longtime lover, urging the police to urgently prosecute the case to bring the perpetrators to book and praying God to grant the bereaved families the fortitude to bear the loss. Also, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu commiserated with Oluboyo over the gruesome murder of his daughter. Akeredolu, who spoke through his deputy, Agboola Alfred Ajayi, while paying a condolence visit to Oluboyo at his residence in Akure, described the incident as a big blow to the bereaved family.

The governor was accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, and the State Commissioner for Information, Yemi Olowolabi. He urged the bereaved family, as believers in Allah, to submit to the will of God who gives and takes life. Akeredolu prayed that Allah will comfort the family over the loss and spread His wing of protection over all the people she left behind. The governor lauded the security operatives for being proactive in apprehending the suspect allegedly behind the death of Khadijat. He assured that the suspect would face the wrath of the law if at the end he is found guilty. Oluboyo, who described his daughter’s death as devastating, thanked Akeredolu for showing the family strong support and care despite their different political affiliations.

The prime suspect in the killing of Khadijat Oluboyo, a daughter to the former deputy governor of Ondo state, Alao Adeyemi, has said that he killed her to become rich.

Adeyemi confessed to killing Khadijat with the sole purpose of becoming rich within a period of seven days.
According to Vanguard, sources at the Nigeria Police said the suspect also known as QS dismembered Khadijat’s body in order to bury her in a corner of his room.

The suspect, a son of a bricklayer, Alhaji Alani Alao, who hails from Osun state buried the deceased in a grave he dug in his bedroom, and slept on the decomposing corpse for six days before he was found out.
A source said Adeyemi during interrogation at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) disclosed that he scrapped the hair of the deceased and also removed her private part which he had taken to his native doctor in Ondo town for money ritual before burying her in the grave.
It was gathered that a night before her death, Khadijat and Adeyemi went to a restaurant for dinner and branched at a drinking joint before they retired to the lover boy’s New Oke-Aro extension residence. While he was joined by two others, who are at large to commit to heinous crime, Adeyemi continued to spray insecticide and perfume to subdue the odour from the decomposing body. He was arrested on the sixth day after the killing happened.

A police source said if Khadijat’s body had been allowed to continue decomposing in Adeyemi’s house, he would have become stinking rich. The source said Adeyemi’s quest to get rich quickly made him kill Khadijat after a native doctor in Ondo town reportedly informed him that the money ritual he was requesting for will require some human parts of a very close acquaintance. The advice by the native doctor led Adeyemi, a Yahoo Plus Club (internet fraudsters) member, to settle for his girlfriend as a victim of his ritual activities.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that Adeyemi had denied killing the daughter of the former deputy governor of Ondo state. He claimed he was not directly involved in the killing of Khadijat. Adeyemi speaking while he was paraded by police said he only provided a digger for two accomplices which was used to dig the grave where Khadijat was buried in his room.

Akure—Barely 24 hours after the suspected killer of the daughter of the former deputy governor of Ondo State, Adeyemi Alao was paraded by Police, his family members have vacated their residence. Adeyemi was paraded by the police in the state for alleged ritual killing of his fiancée of eight years Khadijat and burying her in inside his room. Khadijat was a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, before her murder.

The father of the suspect Alhaji Alani Alao reportedly moved out of the house with his family members late Wednesday to an unknown destination.

Vanguard gathered that this was sequel to the parade of their son by the state Police command.

The main building where the father of the suspect resided and the boys-quarters where the suspect and three other tenants lived were desolate yesterday.

The doors and windows to the two building were shut while the father Mercedes Benz with Osun State registration number had been removed from the frontage of his house.

A neighbour told Vanguard that many people trooped to the house located at the new Oke Aro extension that same Wednesday their son was paraded by the Police and yesterday after they saw the suspect on the television stations and heard of his atrocities on Radio.

“They just left the house because of the shame the incident had brought to the family,” the neighbour added, saying they did not confide in anybody before leaving, but that he just noticed that the father and members of family drove out of the house late on Wednesday and had not returned yesterday.

He said: “Not one soul slept in the two buildings overnight and there is no guarantee that anyone will sleep there for some time.

“It is clear that they have relocated because of the shame and the name calling that the incident would attract to them. It’s really unfortunate.”

Recall that the mother of the suspect simply referred to as Alhaja, the three tenants in the boys quarters and some landlords had before now gone into hiding for fear of arrest by security operatives investigating the murder case.

Father mourns

Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Alhaji Lasisis Oluboyo said due to his religion, he would not seek vengeance against his daughter’s alleged killer in the law court.

He said this when a delegation of the state government led by the deputy governor Agboola Ajayi and Information Commissioner, Yemi Olowolabi, visited him.

Alhaji Lasisi who described her daughter’s death as devastating thanked the government for showing the family strong support and care despite their different political affiliation.

Gov Akeredolu condoles with family

The state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, earlier commiserated with the family of Lasisi over the gruesome murder of their daughter.

Akeredolu who urged the bereaved family as believers of Allah to submit to the will of God who gives and takes life prayed that Allah will comfort the family over the loss and spread his wing of protection over all others she left behind.

A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Segun Ajiboye lauded the security operatives for being proactive in apprehending the suspect allegedly behind the death of Khadijat.

The governor lauded the security operatives for being proactive in apprehending the suspected killer and urged them to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is served in the matter. Akeredolu, however, advised youths, especially students, to face their studies and to always shun acts that are capable of jeopardising their future.

Akure—Adeyemi Alao, yesterday, said the two boys that raped and killed his fiancée, Khadijat Oluboyo, daughter of the former deputy governor of Ondo State, came with her to his room.

The deceased was allegedly murdered for ritual purpose by her fiancée and buried inside his room at his Oke Aro extension residence in Akure.

This came as family sources hinted that the victim has been buried after the completion of post-mortem examination.

Alao, who was paraded by the state Police Command, said he joined cyber crime, popularly known as Yahoo Yahoo, this year but upgraded to Yahoo Plus to earn more money.

According to him, his friend introduced him to Yahoo Plus, which involves ritual activities after he complained to his friend that he was not getting the expected money from being a member of Yahoo club.

Speaking during an interview before he was paraded, the suspect said: “Khadijat has been my girlfriend since 2010 and she visited me to help her in writing her final year project. She slept in my place on Thursday and left the following day.

“She sent a text message to me on Monday, July 2, that I should send some money to her. But I was surprised to see her that same Monday when she came with two boys to my room.

“I left her in my room with the two boys, but they called me 30 minutes later and when I came in one of the guys brought out a gun and ordered me to kneel down, while the other was making love to Khadijat, who was naked on my bed.

“Khadijat was begging them to leave, promising not to tell anyone about what happened. But they strangled her and ordered me to get a digger and shovel. I thought they wanted to use the chance to escape. “But when I came back to the room, they were still there and ordered me to dig the grave, where we buried her and covered it with the rug.”

‘I don’t know the boys’

Asked why he failed to alert his parents or tenants when he was ordered to look for the digger and shovel, Alao said: “The tenants were busy watching a World Cup match and the noise from the home theatre in my room was too loud to make them know what was happening even when we were digging the grave in my room.

“The two boys left after burying her and I couldn’t sleep in my room that day. I had to sleep in my brother’s room and I could not tell anyone because no one would believe my story.

“I don’t know the two guys. Although they have visited my place thrice with Khadijat, I don’t know them or their names. I have been dating Khadijat since 2010 and know nothing about these boys; she invited them. I don’t know their names, but I can recognise them.”

On motive, the suspect said: “I did not kill Khadijat for money ritual, though I joined Yahoo business this year and never made any headway. I later joined Yahoo Plus to make more money, but I not to do any ritual.”

Police react

However, the state’s Police image-maker, Femi Joseph, described the suspect’s defence as infantile and dismissed his “cock and bull story.” His words: “His defence is very infantile and does not hold any water. I am very sure in the next 24 hours, when he will be charged to court, he should begin to talk.”

Police sources hinted that the defence put up by the suspect was to divert attention as he had confessed during interrogation that he and the other suspects, now at large, killed the victim for rituals.

Meanwhile, the Police image-maker, while speaking on the arrest, said the Command was alerted by an informant.

According to Joseph, “we met the suspect, who happened to be the boyfriend of late Khadijat, in his room trying to pack her remains in a sack. This is to tell you that he killed Khadijat.

“The suspect mentioned some other suspects, now at large, but we found out that he single-handedly looked for digger and shovel, dug the grave and buried Khadijat.”

INDICATIONS emerged on Wednesday that two other accomplices partook in the killing of the daughter of the former Ondo deputy governor, Khadijat, who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend for money ritual.

Giving the graphic details, Adeyemi said “Khadijat was my girlfriend since 2010 and she visited me to help her in writing her final project in school. She slept in my place on Thursday and left on Friday the following day.

When queried the motive behind the killing, the suspect said: “I did not kill Khadijat for money ritual, though I joined Yahoo business this year and never made any headway I don’t plan to do any ritual”.

But the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, described the suspect defence as infantile saying Adeyemi implicated some people while the command has been trying to get those people.

He said, “his defence is very infantile and does not hold any water and I am very sure in the next few hours he should begin to talk”.

Speaking with Nigerian Tribune at his residence in Monday, Oluboyo said his daughter was killed for ritual purposes and maintained that the young lady was charmed and hypnotized, saying her daughter could not have gone to the suspect house on her own volition.

The former Deputy Governor while reacting to the death of Khadijat however, said he has decided not to go to court over the killing of his daughter, saying, “to me, I don’t want anything, God’s judgment is more than all the human’s verdict.”

It was discovered that the suspects, Adeyemi Alao, killed the young Khadijat and dug a grave in his room where he buried her and covered it with a mattress for six days before he was arrested.

According to him, the family got to know that the final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, was missing last Monday and while all efforts to find proved abortive, they resorted to prayers.

He said “We got to know that Khadijat was missing on Monday 2nd July 2018 when one of her friends called us from school that she was missing and we started looking at her.

“I sent money for her feeding on Friday, the usual thing is that when she got bank alert, she would call me back to thank me. But this day, I did not get a response from her. I told her mother and she started calling her but her phones were switched off.

“We got in touch with her closest friends in the school, who told us that they finished lecture on Thursday evening and took the same motorcycle to their houses, but said they have no lecture on Friday. She said she was surprised not to see Khadijat at the lecture room on Monday and started calling her numbers.

“We started calling her number and it did not get through. Later the phone rang, someone picked it and we were hearing the underground sound. The phone was later switched off again.

“Later we got a text that the mouthpiece of the phone is not good and that she would call when she changed the sim card to another phone. With that, we thought that everything was settled. We were waiting anxiously for the call.”

Oluboyo said the same message was sent to Khadijat’s friend but said he got to know that her daughter came to Akure to meet the boy and from what the father of the boy told him, “there is no doubt that they were once boy and girlfriends. They met each other at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo.

“When we started looking for the girl, the father called me, he said he is the father of Adeyemi, and my daughter came to their house on Thursday and left on Friday morning and confirmed that my daughter used to come in the past but stopped suddenly.”

Oluboyo explained further that the family received a call from unknown men who claimed to have kidnapped the young lady and promised to get across to the family, saying the suspects were using diversionary tactics to buy time.

He said when the family was waiting for the next instruction from the kidnappers they tracked Khadijat numbers saying “my daughter has four numbers and two handsets. The old number she was using was kept in her bag.

“What happened was that when we tracked the first number, it went off immediately after roadblock at Owo. The second number went off after Oba-Akoko. That gave us the impression that she was travelling and kidnapped when she was going back to school.

“We got it on good authority that she came to Akure. When they sent a message that we should wait for the negotiation team, we discovered it was one of the numbers in her bag that they used to send the message to us. It was a perfect arrangement to buy time”.

He, however, said the family resorted to prayers which yielded results, saying “when we tried our best, we organized prayers and when we finished with the prayers, he got the heat and said he cannot continue with the ritual.

“He rushed out of his room to confess to his immediate sister who narrated the story to their father and called the police. My daughter was not found under the bed, the boy has no bed. The boy dug a grave in his room, and put his foam on the grave and was sleeping on the grave.

“The boy killed her for ritual purposes. It is not that the girl was not well-fed. I am sure my daughter did not go to the boy’s house on her own volition.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed the arrest of the suspect, Adeyemi Alao but said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, would address the public on the incident after the completion of investigations.

Before her passing, Khadijat was studying in the department of Educational Management at the Adekunle Ajasin University.

The ghost of the daughter of a former deputy governor of Ondo State, reportedly led the way to her killer.

The ghost of Khadijat Oluboyo, slain daughter of a former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Olugbenga Oluboyo, is reportedly stalking the land, according to a Vanguard report.

Khadijat Oluboyo was found dead underneath her boyfriend’s bed on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at the Oke Aro extension, Azure, Ondo area.

The name of her boyfriend has been given as Adeyemi Alao.

Reports allege that she was murdered for ritual purposes.

Alao is now a suspect who has been taken into police custody.

Ghost and other tales

Vanguard reports however, that it was Khadijat’s ghost that alerted authorities and the family to her decomposing body underneath the bed.

Vanguard quotes a neighbor as saying that it was the ghost of Khadijat that appeared to Mutiu; the younger brother of Adeyemi, in their father’s house.

The ghost subsequently led Mutiu to Adeyemi’s room where the suspect was frantically trying to conceal the corpse.

The suspect was said to be residing at the boys’ quarter in his father’s compound at the time of the murder.

Reports say he was trying to evacuate Khadijat’s decomposing corpse from under his bed when his brother, Mutiu, found him out.

Vanguard quotes the neighbor as saying ”it was when the ghost appeared to Mutiu that he went to his brother’s room and discovered that he was trying to evacuate the decomposing body from his room”.

The late Khadijat has been described as a reserved person who rarely spoke with neighbours.

Khadijat was a final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.

Tenants flee

Adeyemi’s father, Adekunle Alao was arrested after the decomposing corpse was found, but he has since been released after being exonerated by Mr. Oluboyo, reports say.

Vanguard reports that tenants and several landlords in the neighbourhood of the Alaos, have gone into hiding.

Vanguard quotes a source as saying that tenants of Adekunle Alao, many landlords and the mother of Adeyemi who is simply referred to as Alhaja, “have bolted for fear of arrest by the police since the strange discovery in the area”.

Adeyemi had just completed the mandatory NYSC scheme and had reportedly been dating Khadijat for some time.

Former Deputy Governor Oluboyo has asked the police to ensure that the murderer(s) of his daughter are made to face the full wrath of the law.

Killing for ritual and get-rich-quick purposes are commonplace in Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country. Frequent tales abound of persons being caught with severed body parts like skulls,hands, legs and tongues, across the country.

Suspected killer of Khadijat Adenike Oluboyo, daughter of former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, Adeyemi Alao Wednesday said he slept with the corpse of khadijat for six days in his room.

Alao affirmed that late khadijat’s was her lover of over five years.

However, he said he had no intention of killing her when he invited her to his residence at Oke-Aro, Akure until he met her making love with another person in his room.

The suspected killer was paraded Wednesday at the state police headquarters, Akure, the state capital.

He confessed that he dug a grave inside his room in an attempt to bury Khadijat before he was arrested by the Police.

Alao was arrested by the Police last Sunday after the discovery of the corpse of Khadijat, a final year student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.

Late Khadijat, 20, had earlier been declared missing by her parent when she could not be found by her friends in the campus and her parents at home.

The suspect on interrogation confirmed the killing of the deceased.

He however denied responsibility for her death, stressing that he met her dead inside his room.

He accused the late University final student of being notorious for sex.

According to Alao, Late Khadijat could have sexual intercourse with any individual not minding the status or age of the fellow.

He said “she called me that she was in Lagos and I asked what she was doing in Lagos, the response she gave was that she was there to perfect the project she was writing.

“She told me she would come to visit me after leaving Lagos and she came but the following day she went out and returned with two boys who claimed were his brothers.

“I went out one day and when I returned I saw one of the boys she called her friend making love with her. I was furious and I beat her to pulp. The boy escaped because he threatened to shoot me with a gun in his hand.”

Alao denied rumours that he killed Khadijat for ritual purpose.

He confessed that he made arrangements to bury her inside the room, having dug a grave but was eventually caught.

The state commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju assured that the suspected killer would face the full wrath of the law.

He said the suspect will soon be prosecuted, assuring that his other accomplices would be arrested and also face justice.

Ondo State Police command has arrested Adeyemi Alao suspected to be the killer of the daughter of former Deputy Governor of the state, Miss Khadijat Oluboyo.

Khadijat, daughter of Lasisi Oluboyo who was also a one-time Commissioner in Ex-Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s Cabinet was found dead in Alao’s residence on Sunday.

Sources said the deceased had died almost six days before her corpse was discovered inside her boyfriend’s room.

The suspect was said to be staying permanently in Abuja.

It was learnt that Alao had made attempts to bury Khadijat’s corpse in his house at Oke-Aro area of Akure.

According to a source, he had dug a grave in the room, before nemesis caught up with him.

Khadijat, a-20 year old final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko was said to be fond of visiting her ex-lover each time he came to Akure from Abuja and usually passed the night with him.

There were speculations that the suspected killer was a “yahoo boy” who planned to use her late girlfriend for rituals Police spokesman, Femi Joseph, a Superintendent of Police(SP) said the suspect was arrested by a team of detectives from the State Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

He said the suspect, who was already in police custody has been cooperating with the police on relevant information on the circumstances that led to the death of Khadijat.

Joseph said the Commissioner of Police will address the press after they conclude their investigations on the matter.

He assured that the case would be thoroughly investigated with a view to establishing facts behind the death of the Ikare-Akoko born University final year student.

The PPRO said the suspect and others who might have involved in the death of Khadijat would be prosecuted.

A former deputy governor of Ondo State, Lasisi Oluboyo, whose daughter, Khadijat, was found in the room of her boyfriend, Adeyemi Alao, on Sunday July 8th, has accused the suspect of killing his daughter for ritual purposes.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the distraught father who spoke to newsmen yesterday, said his daughter was killed for ritual purposes and maintained that the young lady was charmed and hypnotized, adding that Khadijat could not have gone to Alao’s house on her own volition.

“Somebody called us that she was missing on Monday, July 2, 2018, and we got in touch with her friends in the school. I had sent her money on previous Friday; the usual thing is that when she got bank alert, she would call me back to thank me. But I did not get any response from her that day. On Monday, we called her number and we did not get through. We got a text that the phone was not good and that she would call back.”

Lasisi said his family later organised a special prayer which made the suspect to confess to his sister that he killed Khadijat and used her for ritual purposes.

He made the revelation in an interview with New Telegraph.

Khadijat, a student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko was said to have gone to the home of Alao, her boyfriend, in the Oke-Aro area of the state capital Akure but did not return.

Oluboyo said, “We got to know that Khadijat was missing on Monday, July 2. Somebody called us that she was missing, we started looking for her. We got in touch with her friends in the school.

“The closest friend told us that they finished the lecture on Thursday. They took the same motorcycle to their houses. On Friday, they had no lecture, when the friend got to the lecture room on Monday and did not see her, she started calling her phone numbers.

From what the (Alao’s) father told us, there is no doubt that they were once boyfriend and girlfriend.

“They met each other at the College of Education, Ondo.

“When we started looking for the girl, the father called me, he said he is the father of Adeyemi, he said my daughter came to their house on Thursday and left on Friday morning. He said she used to come in the past but stopped suddenly that she is the type he would want his son to marry. I said we were not talking of marriage and that we were looking for her.

“The man called and started praying. When we called, the boy said she came on Thursday and left on Friday.

“My daughter has four numbers. She had two handsets, one with two sim cards, and one with one sim. The old number she was using was kept in her bag. What happened was that when we tracked the first number, it went off immediately after roadblock at Owo.

The sister rushed to the father and narrated the story.”

While saying he had left everything to God, Oluboyo said, “God’s judgement is more than the entire humans’ verdict. The danger is that if you allow him to go scot-free, he would do it again.”

Tragedy struck in the household of the immediate past Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, as his daughter Khadijat, was found dead in the house of her boyfriend, Adeyemi Alao, in Akure, Ondo state capital.

Khadijat decomposing remains were found under the bed of her boyfriend after six days in Akure. The young lady who has been declared missing for the past six days at the school, was found under the bed of her boyfriend in what was suspected to be a money ritual attempt by the boyfriend Adeyemi Alao popularly known as QS.

It was gathered that, Khadijat an undergraduate of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, left her school some seven days ago to see her boyfriend in Akure, only to discover that she has been used for money ritual by Alao.

The source explained that Alao who based in Abuja and Khadijat had been dating him since their secondary school days but met recently and rekindle their love affairs.

She however alleged that late Khadijat was killed by Alao who kept her corpse under his bed for six days as instructed by a native doctor.

She said luck ran against Alao on the sixth day when the body of the daughter of the former deputy governor was discovered by Alao’s younger brother.

She said “the ghost of the lady appeared to Alao’s brother who reported the case to the security operatives in the state. The boy had to report because he could not keep the secret to himself.”

A family source however confirmed that Khadijat was used for money ritual saying the herbalist that prepared the money ritual for Alao is currently at large.

He said the herbalist instructed Alao to keep the corpse for seven days but luck ran out of the Abuja-based boyfriend when his younger brother met the decomposing body of Oluboyo’s daughter in mysterious manner and reported the incident to the police in Akure.

Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, said the command has begun investigation into the matter.

Joseph said the command’s officers discovered the dead body of the undergraduate at a house at Oke-Aro area of Akure following a tip-off.

The Police image maker disclosed that some arrest had been made in connection with the death of the former deputy governor’s daughter, but said the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, would address brief the public on the incident after the completion of investigations.

Oluboyo is a native of Ikare- Akoko in Akoko North- East Local Government Area of the state. Khadijat is one of the victims of incessant kidnapping, ritual killing and other violent crimes in the Akoko area of the Ondo North Senatorial District.

The violent crimes had made the traditional chiefs under the auspices of Concerned Akoko Traditional Chiefs to call on government to protect not only the lives of the citizens but the traditional institutions in the area.

In recent time, the Oniyani of Iyani-Akoko and his chiefs; the Regent of Akungba Akoko; former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Victor Olabimtan; Mrs. Ogunmilade, wife of the former Chairman of Akoko North- West Local Government; wife of Oba Agunloye, the Alauga of Auga Akoko and her driver were kidnapped in the axis. A family source said the body of Khadijat, who was declared missing six days ago in the school, was found under the bed of her Abujabased boyfriend, Adeyemi Alao popularly known as QS, said to be at large. The source claimed the family suspected Khadijat was murdered for money ritual.

The family source said Alao’s younger brother saw the decomposing body of Oluboyo’s daughter in a mysterious manner and later reported the incident to the police in Akure.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, said policemen discovered the body of the undergraduate at a house at Oke-Aro area of Akure, following a tip-off. The PPRO disclosed that some arrests had been made in connection with the death of the former deputy governor’s daughter.

However, he said a full briefing would be done by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju, on the incident after the completion of investigations. Meanwhile, the Association of Concerned Akoko Traditional Chiefs has called on all Akoko Obas to rise up and protest to President Muhammadu Buhari and express their displeasure on the humiliation meted on traditional rulers as targets of kidnapping.

The traditional chiefs, including Olu Ogunsusi, Adejoro Olamomiara and Samuel Ayodele Ojo, called on the National Assembly members including the senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District to table the insecurity situation in Akoko land before the National Assembly as a matter of “urgent attention”.
